Orange County Fire Authority Brings Health & Wellness Training to Female First Responders

O2X Human Performance and Building Homes for Heroes to Deliver Two-Day Workshop

Orange County, CA –  On December 15th & 16th, the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) will host a two-day mental and physical health, wellness, and resilience training workshop specifically tailored for women in the tactical populations.

The workshop, sponsored in part by the national nonprofit Building Homes for Heroes, will be led by an all-female team of O2X Human Performance personnel including military veterans, Olympic and Division I collegiate athletes, and top-tier human performance specialists – with each session customized to meet job-related demands unique to female tactical athletes.

“We at the Orange County Fire Authority recognize that efficiency, innovation, and service improve when women firefighters diversify the personnel in our stations, on our apparatus, and at the agency’s leadership table,” said Brian Fennessy, Fire Chief of the OCFA. “O2X shares our goal to better recruit, retain, and support women in the fire service, and we are proud to partner with them on this impactful two-day workshop.”

First responders face extraordinary challenges that can lead to compounding stress over a 20+ year career. The workshop will incorporate training aimed at mitigating the impact of both mental and physical strain that can lead to behavioral health issues, fatigue, and burnout. Drawing on years of working with female tactical athletes, O2X’s curriculum will include elements of nutrition, strength training, sleep, stress management, and resilience – all customized to meet the demands of first responder populations.

“After hosting several all-women’s events in the northeast, we’re excited to bring the O2X program to a larger network of female first responders.” said Ali Levy, Director of Education at O2X Human Performance. “O2X recognizes the unique demands female first responders face and has created a program tailored to meet those needs. The workshop will deliver innovative, customized training focused on performance optimization and career longevity.”

The workshop will be held at 1 Fire Authority, Irvine, CA 92602
