-Will Castillo is a U.S. Army veteran and the captain of Team USA’s Para Bobsled team

-During a 2007 deployment to Iraq his truck was hit by an IED, killing the trucks driver David Kirkpatrick and the trucks gunner Eddie Tamez. 

-Although he lived through IED blast, his wounds resulted in the amputation of his leg and a traumatic brain injury. He spent the following two years at Walter Reed Army Medical Center learning how walk and talk again.

-Struggling with his transition into civilian life, he started to deal with unbearable depression, anxiety, and survivor’s guilt. Seeing no way out, he attempted suicide not once but twice – living through both attempts.

-After these attempts, he dedicated his life to larger purpose. He was introduced to the sport of Para Bobsled and went on to make Team USA. Since this time, he has won three National Championships, a gold medal in the 2020 Empire State Games, and two third place finishes at the World Cups in Germany and Lake Placid.
