Ryan’s role extends to unit-wide education, the strategic planning of physical training events, and the seamless integration of strength and conditioning protocols into tactical maneuvers. To promote a culture of physical readiness and friendly competition, he organizes and executes annual fitness events that challenge the unit’s collective capabilities. Additionally, he oversees the administration and grading of Operator Fitness Tests and Initial Fitness Tests, ensuring all personnel meet rigorous performance standards.
Before his current appointment, Ryan amassed extensive experience within the tactical human performance community. He served with the U.S. Army’s Holistic Health and Fitness (H2F) Program under the 18th Field Artillery Brigade at Fort Bragg, NC, where he played a key role in establishing the brigade’s H2F infrastructure and co-created the Steel Fitness Trainer (SFT) course. His experience also includes supporting elite tactical candidates, including individuals progressing through the TACP pipeline and those who have successfully attended and passed AFSOC selection courses. Ryan’s foundational passion for human performance was forged during his service with the 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, where he developed a deep commitment to optimizing performance in high-stakes operational environments.
Ryan earned his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from the University of South Carolina, where he also gained additional experience through Athletes Arena and within the university’s athletic department. He is a NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and a USA Weightlifting Level 2 Coach. Outside of his professional pursuits, he continues to coach and compete in weightlifting, enjoys listening to heavy metal music, and spends time outdoors while continuing to pursue both personal and professional growth.
