Lee Throckmorton
Carl “Lee” Throckmorton: In 2023, Lee retired from a 30-year career in public safety. He started his professional career with an Ocean Rescue Service in Southeast Virginia where he supervised up to 250 lifeguards per season. In 1997, Lee joined the fire department in Norfolk, Virginia. His fire service career spanned 26 years and included duties as a Paramedic, HazMat technician, and a founding member of the NFR Fitness Committee. He also spent 3 years as an arson investigator which allowed Lee to attend a Police Academy and participate in 6 months of Field Training with the Norfolk Police Department. His last assignment was as a Lieutenant on a busy ladder company in Midtown. In concert with his professional duties, Lee built a robust resume in strength and conditioning to include CSCS, TSAC-F, and CFFT alongside many other specialty courses. He also holds a Bachelors of Science from Old Dominion University. While working for both agencies, Lee had many opportunities to speak to members and recruits about the fitness/wellness needs of the tactical athlete. He continues to leverage his professional, educational, and practical experience to help tactical athletes exceed the physical and mental demands of public safety.
