Jay is driven by a desire to help people perform at their best, and he believes that creating environments where people thrive is the key to organizational success. He developed this perspective through a 26-year Army career, most of it as a Special Forces Green Beret. He led teams from a 12-Soldier A-Team to the 2,500 Soldier 5th Special Forces Group which included 9 combat deployments to Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria. He received the MacArthur Leadership award for actions leading one of the early teams on the ground in Afghanistan. As a leader within Special Operations, he experienced firsthand the impact holistic professional human performance training has on resilience and performance. Since retiring from the Army, he has been teaching leadership with the USF Office of Corporate Training and Professional Education, speaking on leadership, coaching high school wrestling and serving as a non-profit COO. He finds enjoyment and balance through hunting, fishing, fitness and spending time with his family.
