Fernando Lopez
Fernando Lopez is an O2X On-Site Human Performance Specialist specializing in Mental Performance with the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office. He applies his background in sport psychology and resilience training to build meaningful connections and deliver mental performance strategies across the entire agency—from corrections and enforcement to professional staff. His approach centers on three core concepts—attention, acceptance, and emotion regulation—which he uses to help personnel manage stress and optimize performance when it matters most.
For more than a decade, Fernando has worked with Soldiers, athletes, students, and professionals across military, higher education, athletics, and private sector settings. His experience includes serving as a Master Resilience Trainer with the U.S. Army, contributing to Army-wide programs and curriculum development at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, and teaching as an Assistant Professor at John F. Kennedy University. Across these roles, he has emphasized that high performance is not only about outcomes, but also about building resilience, purpose, and strong relationships.
Fernando holds a Master’s degree in Sport Psychology from John F. Kennedy University and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of California, Davis. He is also an approved mentor with the Association for Applied Sport Psychology. Outside of work, he enjoys practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, performing improv, and spending time with his family.
