Daniel Herring is an O2X On-Site Human Performance Specialist specializing in Injury Prevention as a Certified Athletic Trainer with DCFEMS. In this role, he works alongside a multi-disciplinary team to optimize the physical health of first responders, focusing on corrective exercises to improve movement patterns and ensuring safe and effective return-to-duty programming. Dan is passionate about helping active populations reach their physical goals and enabling them to continue doing what they love.Dan’s career has spanned various roles that allowed him to refine his expertise in athletic training. He began his professional journey at Cedarville University, where he earned a Bachelor’s in Athletic Training in 2016 while gaining hands-on experience with NCAA Division II baseball, track and field, and DIII football teams. He later completed an internship at the ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando, FL. After earning his Master of Science in Sports Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh in 2018, Dan went on to complete a one-year Residency program at Syracuse University, where he worked with both the football and men’s lacrosse teams. He continued to expand his experience at Georgetown University, where he served as an Assistant Athletic Trainer, overseeing athletic programs for football, men’s basketball, and women’s lacrosse.In 2022, Dan transitioned to a leadership role at DC International Public Charter School, where he served as the Sports Medicine and Performance Coordinator. During his time there, he developed and expanded the school’s sports medicine and performance programs and secured a new contract with Children’s National Hospital to provide team physician and athletic training services. Dan was also instrumental in the school’s crisis response planning and training. Dan graduated from Cedarville University and the University of Pittsburgh, and in his personal time, he enjoys baseball, reading, hiking, playing games with friends, eating sushi and various soups, and traveling with his wife.
