Charlie Badawy is an O2X On-Site Human Performance Specialist who specializes in Injury Prevention as a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT). He is a board-recognized Sports Certified Specialist (SCS), NSCA Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), and USA Weightlifting (USAW) Level 1 Sports Performance Coach. Charlie’s expertise lies in blending rehabilitation with performance training to help athletes prevent injuries and enhance their physical capabilities.Before joining O2X, Charlie honed his skills in sports physical therapy at a variety of esteemed institutions. He completed postdoctoral education in sports physical therapy at the University of Miami, where he worked with the Rowing and Swim & Dive teams. His specialization was further advanced during his time at Wake Forest University, where he worked with Division I football, basketball, and baseball teams. After his fellowship, Charlie remained at Wake Forest as a Clinical Sports Physical Therapist, treating athletes recovering from athletic injuries. He also served as Program Coordinator for the D-I Sports fellowship program and taught at High Point University’s DPT program, focusing on strength and conditioning in sports physical therapy. His research interests include ACL reconstruction (ACLR) rehabilitation, and he has published in this area.Charlie holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise from Virginia Tech (2014) and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Pittsburgh (2019). His strong foundation in strength and conditioning began in 2014, with internships and roles in the private sector as a strength coach and personal trainer. He also worked with a mixed martial arts gym and helped develop a strength and conditioning program for a local adaptive sled hockey team. In his personal time, Charlie is an avid practitioner of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and weightlifting and enjoys hiking and trail running to push his physical limits.
