Alli Houseworth
Alli Houseworth is a Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT), E-RYT 500 yoga instructor, iRest Level Two teacher, Warriors at Ease certified teacher, and an educator and facilitator with over 15 years of teaching and public speaking experience. She is passionate about bringing the transformative practices of yoga, mindfulness, and meditation to the military and first responder communities as a way to mitigate the effects of chronic stress and trauma.
Alli is a former military spouse, the sister of a medically retired firefighter, the daughter of an Army veteran, the granddaughter of career Air Force and Army veterans, and the great-granddaughter of a World War I veteran. After several rapid PCS moves made it difficult to continue her career—and triggered depression and anxiety—Alli turned to yoga for support. She quickly recognized how its benefits could greatly serve the military and first responder communities.
She began her yoga teaching journey leading power yoga classes in studios, at an Air Force fitness center, and for Army PT. Now, over nearly a decade of teaching, Alli has brought iRest meditation and adaptive yoga to soldiers in the Army Recovery Care Units (an extensive reconditioning program for soldiers suffering from visible and invisible injuries) at Schofield Barracks, Walter Reed, and Ft. Belvoir; yoga, iRest, and psycho-ed workshops on resilience and post-traumatic growth at an in-patient treatment center for substance use disorder; trauma-informed mindfulness programs to incarcerated veterans in the state of Maryland; and more.
Alli holds a certificate in Business Administration from Georgetown University, and a masters degree from Columbia University, where she served on the faculty for four years immediately following graduation and before her first PCS.
While the work she does can be quite heavy, Alli prides herself in her highly educational yet light and fun-loving approach.
