O2X Partners with Huntington Beach (CA) Police Department to Embed Human Performance Specialist for Health and Wellness Optimization

Partners with O2X Human Performance to optimize health and wellness

Huntington Beach, CABeginning in December of 2024, O2X Human Performance has partnered with the Huntington Beach (CA) Police Department to expand their comprehensive wellness program as a means to address career longevity and occupational performance. Along with frequent mental and physical performance-focused training, the program includes a full-time Human Performance Specialist, embedded at the department, to assist in preparing officers for a career in law enforcement.

O2X Human Performance is a Massachusetts based training and education company founded by former Navy SEALs. O2X works with thousands of first responders and has designed programs for federal, state, and local agencies nationwide. They provide state-of-the-art training and education aimed specifically at helping tactical athletes finish their careers as strong as they started.

As tactical athletes, law enforcement officers risk their lives daily to keep their communities safe. They endure physical and mental stress throughout their careers that can have acute and cumulative impacts to health. Huntington Beach Police Department has taken an important step in mitigating these occupational hazards by partnering with O2X. Through this partnership, Huntington Beach Police will launch the O2X Integrated Specialist Program (ISP) to lead the implementation and drive the impact of the O2X curriculum. The ISP places elite human performance professionals, who are experts in their fields, on-site at partnered organizations. Through this initiative, Huntington Beach’s police officers will receive access to O2X’s virtual resources, quarterly assessments and reporting, as well as a dedicated member of O2X’s Client Services team to assist with program implementation.

The ongoing health and wellness of our officers is critical to ensure they can meet the high demands of the profession and best serve the City of Huntington Beach,” said Huntington Beach Chief of Police Eric Parra. “By partnering with O2X, we look to offer enhanced training and resources that will allow our officers to avoid injury and undue stress, while at the same time learn new skillsets and techniques that will last beyond their career.”

Leading the day to day operations of the ISP will be an O2X On-site Specialist (OSS) specializing in Injury Prevention. OSS utilize their education and professional experience, as well as the greater resources of the entire O2X Human Performance network, to design and implement training programs that prepare tactical athletes for the rigors of their professions. These experts incorporate elements of conditioning, injury prevention, and nutrition, along with training in fatigue management, stress mitigation, and resilience into agency personnel.

“We’re excited to assist in the development of Huntington Beach’s law enforcement officers,” said Paul McCullough, Co-founder at O2X Human Performance. “Our hope is that O2X, in conjunction with the Training Staff at Huntington Beach Police, can play a key role in preparing these LEOs to meet the demands of a career in law enforcement.”
