Behind The Shield – Bringing Wellness To The First Responder Community

O2X Co-founder Adam La Reau recently had the honor of sitting down with James Geering of Behind The Shield podcast to talk about bringing wellness to the first responder community. Geering has been a firefighter/paramedic for twelve years and is also a Crossfit coach with a degree in Exercise Physiology and Kinesiology from University of Florida. The interest in firefighter wellness and health that Geering shares with O2X made for a great conversation about the fire service and how to help first responder community.
During La Reau’s conversation on Behind The Shield, he talks about his experience as a U.S. Navy SEAL, how it led to co-founding O2X Human Performance, and how it drives innovation and progress for the company. Additionally, he shares the strategies that O2X uses to bring wellness to the first responder community including comprehensive training focused on mitigating job-related risks.
La Reau talks in depth about the health crisis facing first responders and how O2X targets training for performance beyond fitness. In this discussion, Geering and La Reau discuss the role of stress in performance and why firefighters and first responders need to set goals about wellness so they can finish their careers as strong as they started.
La Reau also gives a sneak preview into some exciting things coming up for O2X including the launch of a Human Performance book. The book will serve as a manual that covers all aspects of human performance and outlines the EAT SWEAT THRIVE methodology so tactical athletes can implement the tools in daily life.
