FirstNet®, Built with AT&T Brings Health & Wellness Training To Alameda County First Responders

O2X Human Performance to provide 2-day workshop for public safety officials

Alameda County, CAFirstNet®, Built with AT&T and O2X Human Performance are collaborating to support the health and wellness of first responders nationwide. In a series of multiple workshops to take place across America, the Alameda County Fire Department will host the next training evolution on May 8th and 9th. This 2-day training workshop brings a customized training curriculum to first responders and is aimed at optimizing performance and increasing career longevity.

Firefighters and other first responders face extraordinary challenges daily, leading to compounding stress over a 20+ year career. The curriculum provided at the workshop will aim to mitigate the impact of both mental and physical strain that can lead to behavioral health issues, fatigue, and burnout. O2X has successfully collaborated with hundreds of public safety agencies nationwide to provide state-of-the-art training and education aimed specifically at helping first responders finish their careers as strong as they started.

“We are beyond excited to be hosting O2X at the Alameda County Fire Department. With the cooperation of the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office, we look forward to spending two days learning and sweating with O2X’s top tier instructor cadre. We have made a pivot in our awareness about the critical importance of conscientious nutrition, focused injury prevention, and above all, our mental health and resilience,” said Chief Heather Marques, Division Chief of Medical Services with Alameda County Fire Department. “Firefighters cannot underplay the deleterious effects of sleep deprivation and long shifts. O2X is the industry leader in bolstering up our tactical athletes, and bringing us the tools to have healthy, well-balanced careers. We extend our heartfelt thanks to FirstNet for providing us this amazing opportunity to support our California Firefighters.”

Over the course of two days, participants will learn how small, incremental changes can lead to sustainable performance and lifestyle improvements. The topics covered include strategies to mitigate the risk of injury, tools to enhance performance under pressure and manage high stress jobs, and education on proper nutrition, sleep hygiene, and foundations of movement – all designed specifically to meet unique training needs of first responders.

“We are proud to work alongside O2X to provide these important trainings to firefighters in Alameda County and across the country,” said Dr. Anna Fitch Courie, Director, Responder Wellness, FirstNet Program at AT&T. “Our first responders are on the front lines of our communities. This program allows them to focus on their health and wellness and feel better equipped both mentally and physically to handle their on-the-job stressors.”

This training program reinforces the strategic priorities established by the FirstNet Health and Wellness Coalition (FNHWC) to support first responders and their families. FNHWC’s mission is to integrate responder, community, industry, and academic capabilities to support the health, wellness, and readiness of American first responders.

“We’re excited to continue our relationship with FirstNet, Built with AT&T in Alameda County (CA),” said Paul McCullough, Co-founder at O2X Human Performance. “It’s important that first responders prioritize physical health and mental wellness in order to stay prepared for the demands of the job. This workshop will serve as a foundation for attendees to build upon.”

The workshop will be held at 4985 Broder Boulevard Dublin, CA from 8am to 4pm daily.
