Boston Fire Recruits to Participate in Five-Day Human Performance Workshop

O2X Human Performance to deliver training and education

Boston, MA – Beginning August 29th, the newest set of recruits for Boston Fire Department (BFD) will participate in a five-day workshop focused on mental and physical wellness.

The event will be led by O2X Human Performance, a training and education company that works primarily with tactical populations to optimize performance and increase career longevity. O2X has successfully trained thousands of first responders and collaborated with hundreds of public safety agencies nationwide to provide state-of-the-art training and education aimed specifically at helping first responders finish their careers as strong as they started.

Firefighters and other first responders face extraordinary challenges daily, leading to compounding stress over a 20+ year career. This training aims to mitigate the impact of both mental and physical strain that can lead to behavioral health issues, fatigue, and burnout.

During the sessions, recruits will learn about nutrition, strength training, sleep, stress management, and resilience. The O2X team consists of hundreds of specialists, including U.S. Special Operations veterans, strength and conditioning coaches, mental performance experts, PhDs in nutrition and psychology, as well as sleep scientists – all dedicated to helping first responders elevate their human performance.

“It remains a point of pride to continue our program here in Boston,” said Adam La Reau, Co-founder at O2X Human Performance. “When those serving in public safety step onto the job, they are signing up for a long and stressful career. It’s critical they learn techniques to manage that stress in healthy ways. Boston Fire continues to demonstrate a unique dedication to their members by providing them with the tools to succeed.”

The workshop will be held from 8am to 4pm at Boston Fire’s Training Academy on Moon Island in Quincy, MA.
