Boston Fire Department Holds 2nd Annual Women in the Fire Service Workshop

Partners with O2X Human Performance for 4-day workshop to optimize health and wellness

Boston, MAFrom Dec 7th – Dec 10th, the Boston Fire Department (BFD) will host a four-day mental and physical health, wellness, and resilience training workshop specifically tailored for women of the fire service.

For the second consecutive year, the Boston Fire Department will host this one-of-a-kind training opportunity designed for women in the fire service. The workshop will be run by O2X Human Performance, a training and education company founded by former Navy SEALs. In order to cater specifically towards women’s health, O2X plans to deploy an all-female team of specialists and instructors to deliver the workshop. As tactical athletes, all first responders risk their lives daily to keep their communities safe. They endure physical and, more importantly, mental stress throughout their careers.

Beginning Tuesday, female Fire and EMS personnel from around the country will begin the training and education workshop. The entire curriculum, prepared by O2X, focuses on overall health and wellness while promoting physical and mental agility and longevity.

During the sessions, participants will learn about nutrition, strength training, sleep, stress management, and resilience. The O2X team consists of hundreds of specialists, including U.S. Special Operations veterans, strength and conditioning coaches, mental performance experts, PhDs in nutrition and psychology, as well as sleep scientists – all dedicated to helping first responders elevate their performance.

O2X Human Performance has successfully trained thousands of first responders and collaborated with hundreds of public safety agencies nationwide to provide state-of-the-art training and education aimed specifically at helping first responders finish their careers as strong as they started.

“We’re excited to work with the Boston Fire Department to provide this training opportunity to women firefighters,” said Adam La Reau, Co-founder at O2X Human Performance. “This four-day workshop designed and executed by the women on our O2X training staff provides a foundation for these firefighters to keep their physical health and mental wellness a part of their daily lives, in order to stay prepared for the demands of the job.”

The workshops will be held from 8am to 4pm at Boston Fire’s Training Academy on Moon Island in Quincy, MA.
