Boston Fire Department Learning to Fight Mental Stressors

Partners with O2X Human Performance for one-day seminar on resilience in the workplace

Boston, MAOn November 9th, the Boston Fire Department (BFD) will host a one-day resilience training seminar. Personnel from BFD and other public safety agencies will participate in this event with a special focus on mental durability and promoting career longevity.

During the seminar, participants will learn ways to manage the chronic stress that comes along with a career in public safety. Firefighters and other first responders face extraordinary challenges daily, leading to compounding stress over a 20+ year career.  This training will help attendees mitigate the impact of mental strain that can lead to behavioral health issues, fatigue, and burnout.

The event will be led by O2X Human Performance, a training and education company founded by former Navy SEALs, that works with firefighters, law enforcement officers, federal agencies, and the military nationwide.

“We all know that firefighting can be an extremely stressful job and that stress isn’t left at work,” said Boston Fire Department Commissioner Jack Dempsey. “We carry it with us back to our families who then have to find ways to cope. Building resilience is key to dealing with stress and trauma.”

“We’re excited to continue our program here in Boston,” said Adam La Reau, Co-founder at O2X Human Performance. “When those serving in public safety step onto the job, they are signing up for a long and stressful career. It’s critical they learn techniques to manage that stress in healthy ways.”

O2X Human Performance has successfully trained thousands of first responders and collaborated with hundreds of public safety agencies nationwide to provide state-of-the-art training and education aimed specifically at helping first responders finish their careers as strong as they started.

The seminar will be held from 8am to 4pm at Florian Hall; 55 Hallet Street, Boston, MA 02122.
