2024 Year in Review: O2X Human Performance Expands Impact Across the Tactical Population

In 2024, O2X Human Performance saw unprecedented growth and impact in our mission to optimize the performance of tactical athletes. Through strategic partnerships, innovative programs, and evidence-based training methodologies, O2X has continued to transform the landscape of human performance in public safety, the military, government organizations, and more. Check out a few of our accomplishments by month:

January

The year began with two significant expansions of O2X’s Integrated Readiness Platform (IRP). The Phoenix Police Department launched a comprehensive wellness initiative, introducing two full-time Human Performance Specialists to optimize officer well-being and career longevity. Simultaneously, the U.S. Navy’s Helicopter Sea Combat Wing Atlantic (HSCWL) initiated a similar program at Naval Station Norfolk, supporting over 1,500 personnel across nine squadrons and more than 100 aircraft with specialized performance training.

February

Lexington Fire Department emerged as a success story in utilizing FEMA’s Assistance to Firefighters Grants Program, securing $542,000 for a comprehensive 24-month training program. Under the leadership of Captain Kevin Deweese, the department implemented specialized O2X workshops focusing on injury prevention, stress management, and foundational wellness education, setting a new standard for firefighter wellness programs.

March

A landmark partnership between Building Homes for Heroes and O2X brought specialized training to disabled veterans and FDNY firefighters at West Point. The two-day workshop delivered customized curriculum to members of FDNY’s Engine 50, Ladder 19, Battalion 26, and the elite Rescue 2 – featuring expertise from Special Operations veterans, mental performance experts, adaptive yoga specialists, and more.

April

O2X expanded its tactical training portfolio through a collaboration with Born Primitive Tactical – delivering specialized mental performance training to the Berkeley SWAT Team. The ‘Mental Performance on the Range’ course provided operators with crucial tools for maintaining peak performance in high-stress scenarios.

May

The USS Ashland became the latest naval vessel to implement O2X training, joining a growing fleet including the USS Preble, USS Mobile, USS Omaha, USS Manchester, and USS Gabby Giffords. This expansion demonstrated the increasing adoption of customized wellness training across Naval Surface Forces.

June

O2X held it’s annual Rally Point in Winchester, Virginia, bringing together over 75 team members at the George Washington Hotel. The gathering focused on team building, core value reinforcement, and product enhancement for tactical populations.

July

O2X’s influence extended into professional sports, with the Dallas Cowboys implementing O2X training for the second consecutive year. Head Coach Mike McCarthy praised the program’s impact, which provided stress management and resiliency training to the entire roster during minicamp and training camp.

August

Program Manager Jonathan Bachant received the prestigious Exemplary Contractor Support Award from the United States Marshals Service (USMS), highlighting O2X’s significant impact on the agency. The O2X IRP with USMS has achieved remarkable results, including a 70% reduction in BDUSM candidate injuries between fiscal years 2022 and 2023.

September

O2X partnered with Cigna Healthcare to enhance first responder wellness in Frederick County, Maryland. The collaboration delivered a specialized workshop, free of charge, aimed at reducing healthcare costs and promoting healthy lifestyles among first responders – addressing both mental and physical challenges faced in their 20+ year careers.

October

The Dedham Fire Department’s seven-year partnership with O2X showcased the long-term benefits of sustained wellness programming. Dr. Laurie Craigen’s presentation on Managing Fatigue & Sleep for Shift Workers exemplified the organization’s commitment to addressing specific challenges faced by firefighters.

November

O2X Co-founder Adam La Reau represented the organization on Inside the NFL, discussing leadership development, organizational culture, and the importance of honoring veterans.

December

The year concluded with impressive metrics: O2X conducted 317 training engagements across 545+ training days, impacting over 6,620 tactical athletes. These numbers reflect O2X’s growing influence and commitment to optimizing human performance across tactical populations nationwide.
